To Sub or Not to Sub

Ohhhh no, I am totally freaking out because I have my first "subbing" assignment tomorrow morning and I can not decide if I really wanna do it or not. It supposed to be for a 8th grade English class, but I am SO not used to teaching older kids, and you guys KNOW how middle schoolers are, especially with substitute teachers. I just dont know if I really want to put myself in that position or not! I just can't decide!! What do you think?!

Anyway onto the EATS! Lunch was a grilled sammie with a granny smith apple on the side:

004

Close-up/Break-down:

002

  • 2 Slices Wheat Bread
  • Red Pepper Hummus
  • Salsa
  • Spinach
  • Onions
  • Spicey Mustard
  • Deli Turkey

Dinner:

008

  • Kashi Moroccan Curry Pilaf
  • Sauteed Mushrooms and Spinach

Sorry for the quick/boring post, but thats all I've got for today. My mind is flooded with this subbing thing I've got going on. Any advice/tips/words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

Happy Hump Day! Lots of Love, <3 Ems.

I think that you should def. take the subbing job for tomorrow! If nothing else it will be good experience, a foot in the door, and a little extra moo-lah. You should go for it!

good luck with whatever you decide, but i'm sure you could do it!! i have confidence in you! sometimes i think to myself..what's the worst thing that could happen? then i feel a little better...show those middle schoolers who's boss!

love the grilled sammie. :-)

I don't blame you for not knowing what to do ... some 8th graderes are CRAZY, haha. I think it would, however, but a great learning experience and at least you could try it and see what you think ... who knows, maybe you'll like it more than you imagined??

Hope you're having a GREAT Wednesday!!

Ew, middle school...the most awkward time of our lives. They better be nice to you if you sub or I'll punch them (collectively?) in the face!

Although I have never commented before I definitely think you should do it! It would give you a feel for the older ages if you were to ever be faced with a situation like this again!
Good luck!

YUM those both look great! I've only tried the Original Kashi pilaf but the Moroccan sounds totally yum.

Take that job, girl! 14 year olds can be pretty awful, but it'll be SUCH good experience. And some 14 year olds are nice! (Haha you love my rationale.) Good luck!!!

I think you should take it. Try something new for once. And hey, if you don't like it, then you'll know and you won't have to do it again.
Best of luck on your decision!

Absolutely take it! I know that gr 8s have a bad rap but they actually can be pretty cool, they are one of my favorite age groups... and even if it doesn't go well its only one day.

Def take the sub position! You will do an amazing job! Don't stress about it. Your sammy looks awesome! Get some sleep and let us know how tomorrow goes!

Aww haha I don't remember any grade ever particular being kind to a sub. But I know a few people who've subbed and two who taught middleschoolers and I say DO IT.(Well I'm hoping you are, as it's late and making a decision past now seems unlikely.) Any subbing experience would be good to get so why not start with the most confused age. :)

Hey Em! I totally think you should do it! Despite poor subs seeming like they get bullied, I think it could also be tonnes of fun! You never know what you can learn from 8th graders, but I think you could introduce some excitement into their lives AND prove to all the "adults" who'se SUPER SUPER awesome! But obviously, it can be very draining. Good luck with the choice, but I totally think you could handle 'em!
